Contract Packaging Corp. is a division of
Industrial Research Inc. We provide packaging services for powders and liquids
including hazardous materials. This type of packaging allows proper long term
storage, easy product identification, simplifies handling and transportation,
and product offering in retail.
Benefits of packaging:
Unlike bulk products, packaged products are
protected from environmental conditions that may result contamination, chemical
reactions, decomposition and many other damages. This is how materials may spoil
and loose their properties if they are not packaged properly.
Strong hydroxides such as Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium hydroxide can
easily absorb carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxides from the
air and change to a combination of carbonates, sulfites and nitrites. They
also absorb humidity and change to a slurry.
Many acids absorb humidity. Some others evaporate. Sulfuric acid absorbs
humidity and looses its concentration. Gases of Hydrochloric acid will cause
corrosion on metals. When acids are not packaged properly, they will loose
their purity and damage their environment.
Crystallization is a common way of purifying many chemicals. Crystals have a
specific molecular weight helping chemists to accurately measure them for
compounding or for reaction. Light, heat, air flow, humidity and many other
environmental conditions can modify the crystals and make it impossible to
make an accurate measurement.
Solvents and volatile substances
Solvents and volatile substances will evaporate and contaminate the air.
This may cause a fire hazard or health hazard.
